This is the first of a series of 5 modular constructions that

together make the 5 Platonic Solids (Tetrahedron, Cube, Octahedron,

Icosahedron and Dodecahedron).
The modular strips lock in a

conventional way at the corners of each solid (here, an Octahedron), but they

have no strength, causing the solid to collapse. I made these 'Collapsed

Platonics' as an aesthetic and philosophical alternative to the easily

identifiable, strong, irrefutable, symmetrical constructions

typical of other origami modular designs, and of geometry in general.
